In an interview from the Pittsburgh Steelers’ training camp, Chase Claypool was asked by former NFL players Brandon Marshall and Maurice Jones-Drew of the "I Am Athlete" show, to name his top cornerbacks. Claypool didn't hesitate to answer, starting with Los Angeles Ram’s star cornerback, Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey is not only a five-time Pro Bowler but he’s also been named a first-team All-Pro three times in his first six seasons. According to Chase Claypool, it’s Ramsey’s unique combination of size and strength that makes him the “number one,” something he felt was “general consensus.” It’s true that Ramsey’s 6’1, 208-pound frame allows him to be an aggressive shut-down corner.

Tre’Davious White was Chase Claypool’s second choice, describing him simply as “real good”. White's physicality and the way he punishes receivers at the line of scrimmage throws his opponents off. He’s also a corner that Claypool has gone up against twice throughout his NFL career.

Los Angeles Chargers’ J.C. Jackson, was another cornerback that Chase mentioned. Jackson has accumulated 25 interceptions in his first four years, including 17 picks over the last two.

Rounding out the list, Chase also named Marlon Humphrey from the Baltimore Ravens. In four matchups between the teams, Claypool has pulled in 18 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers have won every game against the Ravens so far in Claypool’s young career.

What’s on deck for the 2022 season in terms of Claypool and his in-game adversaries? He’ll face Humphrey twice this year due to sharing the division with Baltimore. There will be another battle with White as the Steelers are scheduled to face the Bills on October 9th in Buffalo. Only a few weeks later on October 23rd, Chase Claypool will face another great cornerback in Xavier Howard with the Steelers traveling to Miami to play the Dolphins.
